UnitedCity is an appeal to come together and join an initiative that will raise funds and expertise. We will do this in three ways:
We are conscious that to be credible and sustainable in pursuing our aim, we need to ensure that we balance the economic and social benefits with a safe approach to population health. Our partnership has already commissioned independent research to better understand the transmission data for Covid secure commercial premises, public transport, retail and leisure. We will work with the GM health and care bodies to then better understand the local data and with The GM Combined Authority and Manchester City Council to develop a strategy to get our people back into Manchester City Centre quickly, safely and sensibly. This research will also give us actionable insights to aid in our campaigns and to negotiate with central government around loosening tier restrictions in line with this data
With our funding and research findings, we will create campaigns aimed at getting businesses and our workforce back into the city centre – helping to drive productivity, city centre culture, health and well-being and support economic recovery. These campaigns will be multi-channel, incorporating events, advertising, digital, media and press.
It is imperative that as business leaders we do not let our most vulnerable people slip through the cracks. UnitedCity will be contributing to various funds through “oneGM” to ensure that those in need have access to the support and resources they need.
Manchester and its region has a future, it has a strong future, it has its plans, it will attract investment, but right now needs to come together to research, plan and implement to ensure the city recovers as a stronger UnitedCity.
